Buckles , is just precious in all of todays cartoon , The second and third panel with his demeanor reaching for Jill to comfort him and the third one with that expression are just so lovable : )

That’s pretty much how my grandma got me through my fear of storms when I was a kid. We spent a couple hours lying on her bed watching a line of storms go through one night, with her talking about “God’s light show”… worked like a charm.

My poor dog gets so scared when there is a bad storm. It gets to the point where I have to hold her so tight for her to feel save. Buckles is adorable in this one.

More large dogs I’ve known are more afraid of thunder than small dogs.

Okay, it’s understandable when Buckles is scared of the thunderstorm, but Paul being scared of the thunderstorm too? That shows that he’s a wuss.

Unusual for Buckles to appear in every panel and not say a word.

My dog had been slightly afraid of storms for a while. She never ran around and barked or hid, she would just come lie down near me if I were reading. I would pet her, talk a little to her, and just make sure my entire being seemed calm to her. We had a storm not too long ago, and there was a very loud “crack” – and she came trotting to me, lay down quietly, and went to sleep. There is a fine line between ignoring the dog and overprotecting them. Overprotecting can lead them to believe they should act out and ignoring them can mean they are legitimately stressed and don’t understand why they aren’t getting some help, among a few other possibilities. So far, from all the dogs I have had, they have been quite calm during storms. I do love a good storm, though. Dogs can pick up their people’s fear and act out, too.

My baby girl could not stand any type of loud noises due to the abuse she had done to her be fore we rescued. This would have been a nightmare. Our current boy is like – yea, so what?

One of my cats was afraid of the sound of the rain, but didn’t seem to mind the thunder…go figure.
