Hey they need all the help they can get, it taken them four year and they still have not gotten Trump’s return audited. I bet he can’t wait to realease it.
Doesn’t poll well with the right whingers, who want to complain about whatever gets done to actually address their complaints. The GOP has reduced the IRS staffing by about 75,000 over the last 20 or so years. The part of this bill that re-funds the IRS does so at least in large part so the IRS will be ABLE to enforce the existing tax laws.
PS: It’s only a presidential promise, not yet an observed truth, but the PLAN is to aim those agents at families who earn in excess of $400,000 per year. How many of ol’ Al’s fan club are in that category?
Nice trope. It was never touted to reduce inflation immediately (typical lie from people like you). AND, the increased number of IRS agents fits EXACTLY with what Republicans have asking for years. Namely, don’t add new taxes, just collect the ones already on the books. To do that, the IRS needed more agents. The GOP has historically asked the IRS to do more all while reducing staff and preventing modernization.
Uncle Al resorts to mimicking the worn-out RW Fox Propaganda trope all the other RWNJ cartoonists have worn out already. A day late, and a few fries short of a Happy Meal.
Please help me understand how investing $10B to focus on collecting an estimated $400B per year in uncollected taxes (most from large corporations) isn’t a good idea.
IF there is a net addition of actual agents, in addition to the mostly back room personnel, i.e. more than two, I guess you could refer to it as an ‘army’ of agents.
That would be as accurate as any other Goodwyn cartoon.
.
Of course, Goodwyn and the other Trump Disciples will continue to fight the good fight to keep billionaires and patriotic multinational corporations from paying taxes.
Geriatric Chuck Grassley, fueling the fires of destructive rage:
“Are they (the IRS) going to have a strike force that goes in with AK-15s already loaded, ready to shoot some small business person in Iowa with these, because I think they’re going after middle class and small business people . . .”
Comically ridiculous, except that Republicans use this nonsense to gin up their base, composed liberally of violent nut cases like that unfortunate Shiffer dude in Ohio, who was triggered like the fictional Manchurian candidate by the FG and his lackeys.
“As Admiral Josh Painter observes in The Hunt for Red October: “This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.”
Dear Concretionist: regarding the Reduce Inflation Act- “We are the government and we are here to help” is a thinly camouflaged threat to the financial stability of your family!!!!!

Liar liar pants on fire. Filling vacancies caused by attrition is not adding an Army of agents. And the new hires will be over ten years.

Most hiring will fill gaps in clerical/taxpayer services caused by rethuglican (thanks Yertle Mcconman) over the last 10 years… NOT collection agents.

It won’t help inflation in the short term, but it does help in the long term by reducing dependencies on energy sources that do cause inflation.
