He was percussionist for one of the all time best jazz quartets of all time. Take Five is a true classic.

Paradiddle…..love it!

Most young people will not understand this 1965 cartoon. But I do and as a result it shows my age. Joe Morello the all time great jazz drummer, Died: March 12, 2011 (aged 82).

Joe Morello was a child prodigy of the violin, but when he grew up and understood he wasn’t THE best violinist, he took to the skins and never looked back. There are many who will rate him as the best jazz drummer ever, or even the best drummer ever. Obviously, that’s very subjective.

I love the Dave Brubeck Quartet – Dave Brubeck (keys), Paul Desmond (sax), Joe Morello (skins), and Eugene Wright (bass). :)

I didn’t know this strip used such language!
