I am also older than the mountain and find some booger jokes still funny. Mari is a wise one. Also PHOEBE’S MOVIN ON UP TO FIFTH GRADE. It’s nice to see Dana take the “slowly age” the characters route she did with Ozy and Millie. Like that strip ti’s really not necessary to keep Phoebe in one age group for her character to work. I don’t mind strips that do freeze the ages, sometimes you have the dynamics exactly where you want them, and sometimes you can’t go too far foward without loosing vital characters to college, but I do like this tiny bit of progress for the timeline that brings forth the possiblities of new characters and situations. Granted we may NOT get new classmates and i’d just be happy if we get the suprise news Sue’s moved here (which I doubt but I have my fingers crossed for). But it WOULD be intresting to shake up Phoebe’s non-magical social life when it’s pretty set at this point (I.e. Dakota slowly letting her popularity shields down and Max being max).
I frequently forget that Marigold spends all of her time hanging out with a kid less than 1% of her age. Is that weird? I feel like if she was a human, I’d probably consider that creepy.
I can relate, I felt much the same way when I first reach fifth grade (which, for me, was the first grade in our local middle school, so I was also attending a whole new school building for me too).

A disturbing number of grown adults think that just profanity qua profanity is groundbreaking humor.

I’ve heard of transcendental meditation… but I’ve never heard of transcendental boogers.

Aging in a daily comic strip? We don’t take kindly to that kind of development ’round here!

Um, fifth grade may be the Rubicon on the other side of which boogers are no longer funny. Or desirable.

One of the most endearing memories of my being in 5th grade was watching the sunbeam crawl across the floor during study hall.

You are mature enough, Phoebe, considering you’ve been in fourth grade for ten years.
