UK: We call it Autumn from the French word “automne” and the Latin “autumnus.”

USA: We call it “fall” because leaves fall down.

Wonder why JJ is so concerned about this particular fall.

I think he needs a sign saying “The End Is Near”.

As long as neither of them have a haughty attitude, I don’t think they have too much to worry about with the fall.

Actually I think the other meaning of fall is the bigger worry. We do have an election coming up in the “fall”.

With Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, I gain too much weight in the fall and after.

I understand what Janis is saying. For Winter we don’t say Snow. Spring – Showers (some might say Mud). Summer – Hot & Humid.

Prophesy from the mouth of cartoon Arlo, heed it, prepare for it and trust in the Lord God Almighty to get you through it.

I find the third panel distracting. Did they change direction? Is it a view from the other side? Or is JJ just trying to save on the cost of colored ink?

No, no. He’s got it right. I’m thinking more in the context of the Fall of the Roman Empire…

It’s the only season that has two names. “Spring” is a name like “Fall” but we don’t also call it “Vern.”

The word “fall” has 44 definitions. The word “autumn” has one. Also, there are 4 seasons because of the sun being directly over the tropic lines and the equator. Unrelated to the state of some vegetation.

Or perhaps we should start using the word “out” for spring, as that is when the leaves come out. Will you be going away for out break?

I’m also a lot of fun at parties.

Unfortunately, I feel that we are in a decline. On a fairly steep slope. Seems to me that the lowest common denominator human isn’t yet of sufficient quality to allow the overall race to progress. Only takes a few to act to take down the whole ball of wax.

Here in Ohio, I have seen an over abundance of wooly worms so far over the past few weeks, and it’s not even October yet. I’m foreseeing a horrible winter coming up.
