I understand why, in Plato’s “Republic” democracy was considered dangerous. I have relatives that do vote but cannot explain the issues. They cling to one party, right or wrong, refusing to consider any other point of view. Sadly though the normative is political apathy. They can explain in great detail the impact of football trades, pick-up truck enhancements, Kim Kardashian’s butt size and video game strategies but don’t bother to vote. “It doesn’t matter.”
