Three Musketeers in my case (just one bag); not going to eat any of them until I have some some trick-or-treaters come to my apartment and after I go to my follow-up dentist appointment a few weeks later.
I play the Trick or Treat game fairly. I don’t eat any of the candy until the kids stop coming or 8:00 PM which ever comes first. Then it’s door closed adn lights out. And then it’s “Katey bar the door” for any candy that’s left over.
Yeah we do. Living just outside of town and at the end of a mile long driveway generates similar assumptions: Don’t want to be caught empty-handed if a kid or two shows up but won’t get many kids so might as well get something WE like :D
This Plugger goes out tomorrow in search of half-price candy corn (preferably Brach’s). Then I spend the next several weeks/months doling out 5-10 pieces at a time (& only when my sugar reading is on the low side) so my glucose meter doesn’t explode. (Same goes for Hershey’s Lava Cake Kisses around Valentine’s Day.) #DiabeticProblems
The year we got married – over 40 years ago – I bought some hard candy for the trick or treaters. We had none. In the 9 years we lived there we had 2 teenaged girls come – together – for Trick or treat.
Have lived in this house for the interim – the hard candy moved with us, but I finally threw it out – we have not had even one trick or treater.
To be fair – until the pandemic started we tended to go away at Halloween as it is my birthday and I hate the holiday as it overwhelms the birthday and it is impossible around here to go out for a nice dinner that night so we would go to Lancaster, PA for a few days – still have Halloween there, but much less and one can have dinner and not be served by a waitress covered in dirt dressed as football player while table is bussed by a science experiment gone wrong and covered in blood – and that was a “nice” continental restaurant that we needed a coupon to help pay for and had a dance band!
Now, everything I read about preparing for Halloween involves night time. Everyone I know always had to be home before dark – I am guessing this rule no longer applies?
