There are slang terms for a baseball (apple, pill, onion, etc.) and for a football (pigskin). Why don’t we call a basketball a punkin?

What’s the deal with the quotation marks in panel 1?! Don’t the balloons imply quotes? And there’s a missing end quote in panel 2, and no quote marks at all in panel 3! Am I missing something? Help, you experts! (I love “dids’t”. But isn’t that an excessive apostrophe? [Hey, that would be a good band name: “Excessive apostrophe!” No one would know what that was about!) (I clearly need another cup of coffee, or maybe a martini…)

It’s a freaky-deaky Halloween romance, pumpkin and basketball!

And why did Thor hammer a basketball in the first place?

“Didst” is second person singular, and has no apostrophe.
