We humans pay other humans good money to stand by the side of the road, wearing an orange vest, and directing traffic in the only possibly direction it could go.
Always fascinating how things that have been perfectly OK and no problem to anyone for years are suddenly hazard to life and limb. And YOU have to pay for the “safety improvement.”
Today’s example: the local requirement for non-backflow hose spigots on your house. Backflow from hoses has been SUCH a problem; I’m relieved that they are spending my money to fix it. Of course, non-backflow spigots leak water left and right, thereby offsetting the benefit of low-volume toilets (which themselves don’t work and require multiple flushes to do the job, thereby wasting water).
I think the real reason for these bureaucratic “laws” is to make sure the bureaucrats never get sued. It comes down to this: lawyers are the cause of all evil. They, collectively, are the Prince of Lies.
The bureaucrats’ friends among the manufacturers benefit, too, but since these bureucrats aren’t elected it’s much less of a cause.

Still not up to code. It lacks a sprinkler system.

The “Exit” sign should be lit anytime the doggie bed is occupied.

Every once in a while a comic becomes truly memorable. Even without text, this one hits a universal theme. Thanks!

One exit is not enough. Code requires an alternate in case the main is blocked.

Presumably there is another sign saying “ENTER” on the outside.
