Fanta comes from the German word “fantasie” meaning imagination. When the U.S. declared war on Germany there was a trade embargo between th e Allies and the Axis powers. The Naxis took over the Coca-Cola bottling plants and sold their own soda, the person in charge of Coca-Cola Germany told the marketing department to"Use Your Imagination" to make up a new name.

Back in the early 70s I bought a Fanta Orange soda from a vending machine. What I got was Fanta Orange soda in a Coke bottle with a Fanta cap on it. I still have it to this day.
