Years ago, our cat brought down our 13 ft Christmas tree while attempting to take out the Angel topper. After that, subsequent trees were secured at top, with fishing line attached to banister.
I passed a sign a few minutes ago outside an insurance agency, they put humorous sayings on them regularly. Today’s was “Hey Christmas tree, you have a lot of balls coming in here dressed like that!”
No one in their right mind cuts down a highly-flammable tree and props it up inside their home. For those who want to celebrate the pre-Christian winter holiday, there are plenty of other ways to Wassail. But, alas, each generation seems intent on teaching the practice to the next.
Back when I didn’t realize cats did not HAVE to go outside, we had a Blue Spruce that our cat liked to lie under. When we put up the Christmas tree, he ran to it like and old friend, meowing happily. He would just lie under it and watch the lights. Never bothered the ornaments. He was a good boy. Our next cat chewed the wires, smacked the balls. But, we loved her, anyway. LOL
Cats are not bad! Only people who don’t understand them make them look like they are doing things they are not supposed to. Cats are cats and act like it – so either go with the flow or adjust to it. (Not having cats in not an option, at least for me. Sad enough I can’t have another dog, but I’m not well enough to take care of one correctly).

Is somebody filming this? Looks a little staged.

Looks like Arlo had the good sense to select ornaments that bounce.

Here’s the Old Dog himself, pestering the cat!
P.S. I love these minimalist panels telling a great story!

I always knew it was really Christmas when the “tootsie rolls” in the litter box came wrapped in tinsel.

No but we do play with our cats. Good buddies.

Our youngest cat loves to play with balls, no round ornament would be safe
