Reminds me of Boy Scouts. The Scoutmaster stood around in his old Eagle Scout uniform and talked to all the dads about his merit badges while his son ran around bullying the other kids and taking or breaking things. My son quit after one year.
Yeah, I don’t think Herman is actually trying out for a sports team like you think he is, Sherman. The first rule is to be quiet and actually listen to what team Herman is wanting to try out for.
Kid’s sports these days seem to be more about the adults than the kids.
When I was young we made up our own teams and set up our own games on whatever vacant lot was available. There was one exception. Every year the Junior Chamber of Commerce had a kids baseball league. The JC’s provided fields, a schedule, sponsors named on T-shirt “uniforms”, and umpires. Forming teams, practices (what are those anyway), lineups, etc. were all left to us kids, and there were no adults watching from the bleachers.
