I finally got a text stating where my blood donation has been sent to. The lucky hospital was Leeds General Infirmary. It actually went to that hospital 3 years ago. I keep records of where my blood donations get sent to and when.
I recieved the text yesterday on New Year’s Day. I hope I made somebody live to see 2023.
I hope your New Year started off wonderfully like mine did. I’m back at my volunteering on Tuesday, I can’t wait. I’m getting so restless! Goodnight all.

Some time ago, I mentioned on this site that we used to have Wimpy Bars in the UK but they were taken over by Burger King. I later learned that most of the Wimpy Bars were renamed by Burger King but there are still Wimpy Bars and I had a meal in one in Shrewsbury in the summer of last year so I mentioned that on this site as a correction. I am currently reading the third Thursday Murder Club novel, “The Bullet That Missed”. One of the main characters in The Thursday Murder Club, Joyce, is surprised to find that there are still Wimpy Bars in Britain and she has mentioned this at least three times so far.
Thinking back on the 30+ years I refereed football ( soccer ) I can only remember suspending play for inclement weather on only three occassions. Once, because the rain was so horrendeous that the pitch was not only unplayable but dangerous. The second was because the fog had set in so thick that you literally couldn’t see three feet in front of you. The third time was because of intense lightning activity in the surrounding area.( As a teenager, while working as a lifeguard, I saw a kid get killed by lightning. Ever since, I have always erred on the side of extreme caution when it comes to electricity – particularly lightning! )
It was until I moved to Arizona in the early 70s that I discovered that you could actually play soccer in the sunshine! Most of my own playing experience had been in the cold, rainy, damp, and miserable weathers of New England and Ireland.
Sorry for the late reply. My friend invited me over to his house again and as it will be the last time I see him for a while, I wanted to go.
Happy New Year to you! Tomorrow I am back at my volunteering and I’m looking forward to it. One of my “routines” on that day is to get a bacon sandwich. If I’m running a bit late, I take the sandwich into the office with me and eat it.
We also have something here called “Rainbow Cake” and the rainbow part consists of sprinkles. It’s so good, I get myself some of that with the bacon sandwich if there is any left.
Stay safe, stay well, stay warm and stay happy, pal.
I can’t believe Andy came right home after the game was abandoned, I would have thought he would have headed for the nearest Pub to further drown his sorrows.
