    I wear petite sizes, which means less fabric. Our clothes are always back in the farthest corner of any store, and cost more, generally, then regular sizes or plus sizes. Petite sizes can go up to 5’4", which is the national average size of a woman in the US. I used to just make most of my own clothes. It was easier than trying to find anything to fit – I don’t recall ever even seeing petites until I was in my 20s. The actual top height recommended can vary by brand. I have a friend who is 5’6" and needs petite slacks or me to hem regular ones.
