NATO should get off the pot, stop fooling around and hurry up and get the job done.

One thing for sure. If the NATO countries wait long enough, it will be a NATO problem.

Jeff, Reading your books. You mention shortage of critical parts (some very small parts) and our having to buy back bombs we had sold to Germany so we could continue the war in Nam. Nothing new here. Ukraine will suffer, for various reasons, shortages of material.

And who said Neville Chamberlain is dead? He lives on and still tries to appease in the likes of the bogged down NATO leadership. Appeasement of dictators never works. Sanctions and supporting those oppressed usually does help though

What’s the ultimate goal? How does either side define “victory”?

I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as “appeasement”. “Realpolitik”, which is how I regard discussions of negotiations, often does leave a bad taste, but has been used throughout history.

Everyone is looking to NATO to act but where is the UN? NATO has no authority to march troops into Ukraine, even if they are willing to risk WW3. The UN should be taking the lead on protecting Ukraine from the terrorism of Putin and Russia. Have I missed their full throated support for the people of Ukraine and their plans to drive Russia out of the country? If anyone needs to “get off the pot” it’s the UN.

I do wish we were thinking more about how to stop the war, instead of just escalating it.

The Ukrainians are providing the most critical part of the enterprise- human lives. If curtailing Russia’s (I.e. Putin’s) ambitions is worthwhile, then there should be no limit to Western logistical support except nukes. The only better investment would be to jail Trump and the cheapskates who want to save a few bucks – instead of saving democracy. The money goes to American arms makers anyway!

Did I miss something? Did NATO really deny ammunition to Ukraine based on the language of the request?

Isn’t it odd how you can depict killing and shooting and war and destruction, but can’t say ‘d a m n’?

Take a few of those diplomats throw ’em on the frontline and watch them do their Groundhog imitation.
