darn that superstition

I’m older than dirt, and I never understood the string on the finger thing….

Maybe it used to mean you were going to be hung that day. Now it means your wife will hang you out to dry if you forget this important thing.

Funny thing. I tied a string around my finger but when I walked through a door, I forget why I went to that room. Then I see that THE STRING ON MY FINGER HAS DISAPPEARED!

I have to use both hands when I tie a knot. How do you tie a string on your index finger?

Harder to explain to your fellow commiserators at the morning coffee klatch.

Originally, the string was tied by someone else. The idea appears to have come from the Bible, 2 Timothy 2:14, when the Apostle Paul tied a string around Timothy’s finger and asked him to remember his teachings. Why does it [sometimes] work? Because it creates a moment in which the mind is focused on what is to be remembered and not just focused on the idea that one must remember something.

I don’t use string, I just blame the doorway. Sometimes if I walk back through the doorway to the original room, I will remember what it was I forgot. If I’m in a store, i’m in trouble and end up making a complete tour of the store, hoping a visual on things will jog my memory.

I am reminded of Uncle Billy in, “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

That’s because you forgot the rubber band around your wrist that was to remind you of the string. duh.

I make lists… even when I was younger.

thats why you tie a string around the note you wrote yourself, works every time….j/k have a great monday everyone!!!

You’re a plugger if you have few enough things to remember that a string is enough?

You are a “Plugger” if you have to think what your name is.

Need to buy more string.

Whenever I get a new calendar, I always make sure the boxes are large enough to write down appointments.
