Red’s in a really good mood. Recently Rover asked him how school was and he painted a very black picture. Rover asked, “Apart from missing me, how was school.” Red cheered up a little and replied, “Not too bad! We had a Disney cartoon about Math.” Someone identified that as “Donald in MathMagic Land” from 1961.
I don’t remember rubber cement but I remember paste—and even now I still remember how it smelled, a rather pleasant odor (for me). But no, I never tasted it! I also remember manila paper (kind of yellow or beige, with a subtle texture).
The smell of rubber cement is one of those odors that absolutely transports me back in time to my desk in 1st grade. It makes me see and hear that scene as if I was there just a moment before. It’s amazing.

As a girl, I would smear rubber cement across my desk and then roll it all up to make a bouncy ball.
