When I was working, I had to go to people’s houses. Social work. When there was a dog outside loose like that, I would generally pass, even though most dogs don’t bother me. I would go back to work and make an appointment for them to have their dog under control to avoid issues. When there was a gate to be opened on a fence to get into the yard, I would rattle the gate first. If no dog came charging at me, I would enter and go to the front door. People would often offer to lock their dogs in a room. I would say it wasn’t necessary if the dog was friendly. I never had a problem. I would, however, try to sneak a chance to slip a finger under the dog’s collar. Sometimes people will put a collar on a dog and leave it on and not realize that the dog has gained a lot of weight and is slowly choking. For my own dog, I don’t leave a collar on her in the house. I put it on every time we go outside or in the car. I use a leather buckle-style collar.
Don’t discriminate against the mailman, Buckles. He comes on the porch while the paper boy just throws the paper from a distance and zips away. I know. I was both. Never bothered by a dag as a paper boy, different story as a mailman.

I was a paper boy way back, never had a problem with dogs, but the huge Wednesday papers coming apart on porches as I threw them- another story!

Guess you’ll have to settle for chewing on Paul and Jill shoes.

If Buckles stops the paperboy, there will still be Amazon deliveries to bark at.

Buckles must be good, in Reno you can’t hardly get a paper delivered anywhere. Everyone complaining on Nextdoor of no service.
