In Texas the Republicans are drunk on rot gut evangelical Religion. Intoxicated on an exalted high from pure corn fermented in bronze kettles distilled over the flames of the Burning Bush and aged since 500BC in iron bound casks of obdurate dogma. A heady mixture sold in bulk cheaply and widely at a Southern Baptist Showroom or AM radio near you. Served best with a side of hate and twist of hypocrisy. WWJD?

It’s very disheartening to know that so many voters believe that the GOP Congresspeople genuinely represent what the founders meant as the balance between the owners/renters/businesses, races, ethnicities, religions, ideologies, etc that could discuss, debate, collaborate, and grow the well-being, health, safety, prosperity and unity of the nation.

The problem with drunk drivers is they often survive the carnage they create. But, unfortunately, the innocent bystander isn’t as fortunate.

Jim Jordan was on Meet the Press this morning. The host questioned him why his committee only would investigate President Biden about the case of the documents and not also look into trump, who ignored and lied about the papers he had for over a year and a half. Jordan changed the subject. Jordan brought up the FBI search of Mar a Lago several times; when the host reminded him that trump ignored a subpoena for months before the FBI finally searched, Jordan ignored that point as well.

Bonhoeffer’s “theory of stupidity”: We have more to fear from stupid people than evil ones

Evil is easy to identify and fight against; not so with stupidity.

When we know something or someone is evil, we can take steps to fight it. With stupidity, it is much more difficult. Dietrich Bonhoeffer argues that stupidity is worse than evil because stupidity can be manipulated and used by evil. He also argues that stupidity tends to go hand-in-hand with acquiring power — that is, being in power means we surrender our individual critical faculties.

Excuse the repost, but it’s important. Here’s the Republican “platform.” They won’t write it down because too many voters might read it, so I did it for them. Despite being in the minority in terms of the US voting population, members of the SCOTUS, “Conservatives,” RWNJs, and white supremacists are attempting to drag this country back to their imaginary Jeffersonian agrarian idyl. The 1790 census (when Jefferson was Secretary of State), counted 5.3M Americans. Only white males owning 50 acres or more of land were permitted to vote, approximately 6% of the population. Free white men who did not own land, free white females, and slaves could not vote. In 1790 the American population was largely rural, making a living by farming. Our most recent census counted 332,403,650 Americans. Current estimates are that 83% of Americans live in urban areas. They do not work at farming. Of course, a country of 300-plus million Americans requires a larger government than one with only 5.3 million Americans. Please don’t worry about how “small government” works with regulating what goes on in your bedroom, or prohibiting women (still citizens as far as I know) from crossing state lines for medical care. Nevertheless, in pursuit of “small government,” the following are conservatives’ goals for their “Jeffersonian” America

    1. No women’s rights.

    2. No civil rights for people of color, or for any other minority groups.

    3. No immigration, other than Caucasians.

    4. No labor unions.

    5. No health insurance.

    6. No legal recourse due to Republican-packed courts.

    7. No social security.

    8. No disability insurance.

    9. No minimum wage.

    10. No free and fair elections (ultimately, no elections).

    11. Imposed state religion; government funding of religious schools.

    Republican Platform continued…

    12. Unregulated militias unchecked by Republican-packed courts.

    13. No work on mitigating climate change; no environmental protections.

    14. No free press.

Oh, I almost forgot! Lying about and misrepresenting everything Democrats try to accomplish.

GOP politicians don’t care about the environment or mitigating climate change because they intend to stay permanently in office and use their money and power to take over remaining livable locations as environmental conditions worsen. Republican leaders don’t care if America dies as long as they can feed off the carcass for their lifetimes. How many Americans would have to die or be virtually enslaved in jobs with less than living wages for this “platform” to work? Why do you people who support today’s GOP, Trump, and Trump wannabes think that you will come out winners under this regime? NEVER MISS AN OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE, AND VOTE BLUE!

‘Biden didn’t defy a subpoena!’ Chuck Todd schools Jim Jordan on ‘raid’ of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago

NBC host Chuck Todd confronted Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) after he suggested there is a two-tier justice system for Republicans and Democrats because a search warrant was used to search former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate after he refused to cooperate with the Justice Department. “You keep talking about this raid on Donald Trump,” Todd told Jordan during an interview on Sunday. “There was nine months between the initial action the archives made for a request of documents before they even turned it over to the Justice Department. The subpoena was issued 60 days before they actually executed the subpoena. And more importantly, the only time the public found out about it is because Donald Trump told the public about it.”
