Clearly Amelia comes from a struggling family. I hope Rose gives her a pass. We saw Amelia comforting Spud on Father’s Day. They both have family issues.
Honestly, Rose, I think most everyone in this class (except maybe Spud, because Spud) knows Amelia well enough to have a good idea as to what really happened here…but since Amelia seems to be having a change of heart, nobody wants to be the one to spoil the moment.
Woo! Backhanded comment, scam, and defiance. If I know girls (and I don’t) there will be a nasty payback by Rose. Just not in this arc. “We do not forgive, and we do not forget!” :D
Running to the window, she opened it, and put out her head. No fog, no mist. Clear, bright, jovial, stirring, cold—cold, piping for the blood to dance to—golden sunlight; Heavenly sky; sweet fresh air; merry bells—oh glorious, glorious!
“What’s today?” cried Amelia, calling downward to a Seagull in fine plumage, who perhaps had loitered in to look about him.
“EH?” returned the bird, with all his might of wonder.
“What’s to day, my fine feathered friend!” said Amelia.
“Today!” replied the bird. “Why, Valentine’s Day’”
“It’s Valentine’s Day!” said Amelia to herself. “I haven’t missed it. Wallace has done it all in one class. He can do anything he likes. Of course he can. Of course he can. Hallo my fine bird!”
“Hallo!” returned the bird.
“Do you know the Hallmark in the next street but one, at the corner?” Amelia inquired.
“I should hope I did,” replied the bird.
“An intelligent bird!” said Amelia. “A remarkable bird! Do you know whether they’ve sold the prize box of chocolates that was hanging up there; not the little box, the big one?”
“What, the one as big as me!” returned the bird.
“What a delightful bird!” said Amelia. “It’s a pleasure to talk to him. Yes, my buck!” (Can’t use the real word she used for a male bird)
“It’s hanging there now,” replied the bird.
“Is it?” said Amelia. “Go and buy it.” (Still not wondering at how she was having a conversation with a bird)

Amelia doesn’t need approval from others. She’s self-actuated. Just give her a fire alarm and watch her actuate it herself.

Aemlia, that was a brilliant intention, but we’ll still see you in detention.

Just rhyming “Was” with “Applause” should get her detention.

Seagull’s first face is precious. Those brows practically scream “Ya, right”.

I want to know what Spud wrote in her card. Will we ever find out?

The seagull could prove that Amelia did it. Did he ever get his bag of potato chips for helping her out?
