That has happened to my cats now and then.

Yes, that heavy back end of bassets can be hard to control. Once it starts sliding off a chair or sofa, you can’t stop it. You just gotta slide. Land safely, though.

Aww Fred…be careful when you’re on the furniture when you’re sleepy. You can hurt yourself.

Fred dropped off to sleep on the chair and then woke up and yawned and dropped off the chair.

Gravity. It ain’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Cats do this all the time. Dogs, now…well, they’re stiffer than cats, so I can imagine…

30kilos falling on hardwood floor from a chair makes a good, resounding ‘thump’ !

Been there, done that.

I don’t recall any of my dogs falling off the furniture. Of course, they usually had a safety device such as a human lap, or approximately 100 surrounding blankets, so they’d have had a hard time even getting near an edge! For the (human) bed, there was a bit of edge all around, plus a ramp hubby built so that they wouldn’t jump on or off.

Literally!
