Subverting AIs has already become a hacker pasttime. The next “cyber war” may well be AIs fighting, allying, double-crossing and ransoming each other. It could be over in a few hours.

We should have started to worry when Big Blue won the chess match.

Trivia: there were actually three books in the Colossus series. D. F. Jones writing, awful in the first one, got progressively worse as he quickly tried to cash in on the relative success of the first.It got to the point where Forbin was basically imprisoned by Colossus (technically I guess you could call it “Colossus/Guardian”) while the computer forced his girlfriend to have sex with apes, supposedly so Colossus could understand human genetics.As readers of the series have noted above, in the second book the Martians came to the rescue with a way to disable Colossus. Unfortunately the bill for that assistance was rather steep….

I’m starting to expect any product Dr. Mel makes to turn evil.
