They scream and scream about the homeless situation, but if they do succeed in killing Medicare and Social Security they are going to have to deal with a few tens of millions of sick and elderly homeless people … one of whom will be me!

The history of Republican’s hatred of the health and welfare of the American people, including the repeated attempts to destroy medical care, leaves no doubt their intentions are to also destroy Social Security and Medicare.

They want to steal the funding. The collapse of S.S. and Medicare, would be a bonus.

If the GOP makes an attempt to ‘reform’ these programs, we’ll get to watch an army of Seniors storming the Capitol. Run Hawley Run!

Republicans have to lie or they will cease to exist. In phone surveys, when people are given a choice on issues that affect their daily life, taken from both Republican and Democratic Party publications, those who identify themselves as Democrats agree with the Democrats about 80% of the time. Independents do to, about 58% of the time. The weird thing is that 42% of Republicans agree with the Democratic positions too, unless the are told which is which. Then they fall into line and agree with the Republicans 78% of the time. People who identify as Republicans make up somewhere between 30% and 42% of the voters, depending on the year. It’s currently way down. 78% of 42% is 33%. The Republicans would never win another national election with those odds. So, the Republicans have to keep as many people from voting as possible, and keep the rest of them confused enough to vote against their own best interests.

Disingenuous republicans lie like the crazy people they are.

Repubs have wanted to eliminate Social Security since FDR signed it into law.

Is that the “pence gallows” repurposed?

Not a lot of comments about Medicare and SS from the right wing.

It’s not like them to have nothing to say.

Strange that Publicans should be feigning indignation when Biden has the effrontery to say out loud what most Publicans have been anything but shy about saying. Social Security is doubly anathema (it makes people’s lives better, and it’s a Federal program that works). Same goes for Medicare. Remember that when the legislation was being debated, Ronald Reagan hired himself out to croon anti-Medicare propaganda whose theme was that the country would descend precipitously the rest of the way into totalitarian Communism. I don’t doubt that some, like theh Koch brothers, think that it in fact has done so.

Unfortunately they do not wish to execute those programs merely in effigy but in real life.

The Republicans have been “gunning” for SSA They have succssfully ended private pensions with the 401K crap. They just want everybody in the country to waste their $$ on the market. 401K’s are a scam and nothing more.

In the private sector they have already forced the 401K scam down workers throats in private and public sector. The 401K plans are nothing more than 1 huge pyramid scheme.
