They don’t make them like Crankshaft anymore. Here is a guy who was a minor league baseball player, landed at Normandy beach, school bus driver, teaches English to the illiterate – (giving back since he was illiterate for most of his life), helped deliver his great grandson. I would think that was a full life and a hard act to follow.
Yep, they’re not making people like they used to. Human 2.0 is optimized from birth to have a short attention span, to demand constant stimulation, to accept without question anything presented on a screen, to get angry on command, to buy what they’re told to buy, and to accept illusion and entertainment over reality and actual accomplishment (as conservative writer Ross Douthat put it, “After Apollo, we have entered into decadence”; who needs to actually go back to the moon when Disney can provide a far more entertaining simulation?). We are being conditioned to be obedient laborers and voracious consumers. The perfect Human 2.0 will finish his/her 14-hour day of minimum-wage work, go home, stare into screens and order more junk he/she can’t afford and doesn’t have time to use anyway. Welcome to the future.
I know that I am getting old, but I thought that people were still being made the same way. I hope that the method has not changed because that was so much fun.

They’re not making people like they used to. Low expectations create low outcomes. It starts in the schools.
