    I feed the outside cats. I once bought fancy dry stuff for a change. Even the raccoons wouldn’t eat it.

    Not quite. Raccoons who have a choice about what they eat, are very particular about the food they consume. Like cats, they don’t like old food, rotting food or dead animals they did not kill. They also won’t eat rotten duck or goose eggs in abandoned nests. Only raccoons who have limited food choices eat stinking garbage.
