    How many homes, even with medical types, have otoscopes in them? My wife was a nurse and I’m a flight paramedic, and we sure don’t. Those things ain’t cheap!

    Centuries ago, before wax was widely available and cheap, earwax was collected by poor and moderate income people and used to wax thread. Waxing thread was used to make thread stronger and easier to pull through tough fabric.
