Reminds me of the William “Refrigerator” Perry experiment by the Chicago Bears back in the ’80s. Perry, nominally weighing around 335 lbs. in this period, was a defensive tackle that was occasionally used as a fullback to barrel through the opposing teams D-line in short yardage situations. Worked a few times, but it developed that in a game where fractions of a second can make all the difference in a play being successful, Perry was way too slow to be an effective running back. Perry proved much more effective as a defensive tackle, playing for the Chicago Bears for nine seasons.
I had a defensive lineman drop onto hands & knees, every play! He was impossible to move … until I jumped onto his back. My long cleats brought out some screams, and he didn’t try it again.

Frankly, I’m surprised no team has tried this.

This what later sports historians will remember as the Great Sumo Wars.
