My therapy dog is a beagle, and we visit people in the hospital along with a golden. I think either a beagle or a golden would be good for facing the cops, but ours are a great team. Every time we see a LEO or a security guard I take my dog up to them and say, “Remember, if you get lost, this is who you go to.” It always gets a smile. Sometimes even some good pets for my beagle. She loves a man in a uniform, but her favorite uniform is scrubs. It’s downright embarrassing how shameless she can be, especially with male nurses. Her goal is to get them to pick her up and hug her, and she has pretty good success.

Down with police state for dogs.

I haven’t heard of a Golden Retriever killing a baby or permanently disfiguring a very young girl in a pram by biting her face for no apparent reason.
