If my grill was damaged, I would include it in the claim anyway. That’s what you’re insured for. The extra money might help with replacing the car, as you never get enough money from the insurance to buy a new car (unless you had just bought the car, but mostly that isn’t the case)
All I can think of right now, is this weeks deluge in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area is going to make my home owners insurance even higher. Car insurance too. 24 inches of rain in 25 hours, that’s worse than most hurricanes.
Most private insurers have fled the state again, like they did after 2005, so even finding insurance is difficult. FL, the epitome of republican rule, has the only state run and owned insurance company in America.
Vastly underfunded, and of course the citizens are on the hook if it goes broke paying out claims, but that’s how unregulated capitalism works.
My Weber kettle grill and Weber smoker both have tree damage from storms. But I’ve had them forever and they still work, can’t bring myself to replace them. Plus, on the smoker I won ninth place in ribs at a contest so there’s that.
There’s too much going to landfills because we cant live without the newest shiny bauble. Use it, reuse it, wear it out. Resources are not infinite. I sprayed primer on my last car after the hood was damaged by fling collision debris and drove it until it failed mechanically. My current Camry is 21 yrs old and looks and runs just fine. I’m 73; its my 3rd car.

Ooh! Ooh! If I beat up my grill will it remind me that I’m right? There could be a real market for those!

I can understand the car as the metal is like a tin can, but I doubt a grill would suffer any damage.

I thought they were going new car shopping.

That’s cute – “not include it in the claim”. Most people throw everything into the claim – including golf clubs you threw away 20 years ago.

The dents in the lid don’t affect its usefulness as a grill. Get over it.
