There are many views (viewpoints) that people can have about the earth. It is possible to see both positive and negative things about it and our (humans) effect on it. It is possible to have both great concern and yet to have hope.
Remember, caring for the Earth is caring for people. The world has been through far worse things than those inflicted by people; but the human race hasn’t. The world will survive. there will be life forms of one sort or another, but if you want people, puppies, kittens, lions, tigers, and bears then we’d better clean up this mess we’ve made.
We seem to forget that Nature and humans are not separate — we are a part of Nature. Everything we do affects Nature in some way and things that happen in Nature affect us. Nature is a balancing act. If things get too unbalanced then Nature works to regain balance. It may not be the original balance, but Nature will achieve a new balance. Goodbye dinosaurs, hello mammals. Equilibrium is what keeps the Earth going. But sadly, we seem to view Nature as an enemy, an obstacle — something to be conquered, modified, adapted, or destroyed. But Nature will win. Nature can adapt, evolve new life, eventually.
As an early Ziggy Earth Day cartoon said, “Be kind to Mother Nature. What will you do if she makes you leave home?”
Earth is sentient, and she’s upset – tornadoes, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, and she is so angry/hot she’s melting all the ice, happy birthday b!+*h…
While watching the news last night, the weatherman showed pictures of earth from the space station. He said, “You know, we really do live on a miraculous planet.” I thought that was kind of nice. :)

That’s “flattering”, not “flat”.

The earth is definitely flat, that why things don’t fall off, simple.
