Republicans, including the cartoonist, believe with absolute certainty that George Soros’ contribution to a PAC gives him absolute control over DA Bragg.
.
They also believe, with absolute certainty, that $10 million+ in gifts from Harlan Crow have NO influence whatsoever on Clarence Thomas. And he is NEVER influenced by his wife, either.
And the half million to Ginnie ALSO had NO influence whatsoever.
.,
And, of course they believe, Thomas doesn’t need to disclose anything — because he doesn’t like to.
To hear one of my deceased uncles talk about the clan and how they took care of those uppity, especially one soiling white women it was worse, but thomas wants the old time back! I wonder how the clan dealt with finding out my uncle’s family in Switzerland was Hebrew
The rules saying that you can take gifts from friends means that a U.S. Supreme Court Justices cannot be bribed, because I know if anyone gave me gifts like that I sure would be their friend.
Actually, the funny thing is outside of the horribly insensitive depiction of lynching being used to express justified outrage; no, it is not his first time. If the Senate did their job years ago there never would have been a second (or third, or fourth).
I have always felt bad for Thomas. Easily the most lackluster jurist on the Supreme Court in decades. Very much thrown into the deep end of the pool when he couldn’t swim well. When Scalia was alive, he could let him do his thinking (and writing) for him. But after Scalia’s death, Thomas couldn’t hide behind his robes any longer. His opinions lack nuance and are poorly reasoned. He makes it painfully obvious that he makes decisions based on personal ideology and confirmation bias (not law). But all sympathy I had for how obviously overwhelmed he was by a job beyond his capabilities is gone. He is an embarrassment to this country. While it might have once been correct to paint him as a victim of the fates (and politics) that put him in position that he was incapable of doing well, not any longer. He is not a victim, he is opportunistic and unethical.
Wouldn’t it be better if we respected every member of the SCOTUS as qualified/competent/ethical and could trust that they were working for ALL the people — not just a political faction?

So asking Justice Thomas to disclose shady gifts from a conservative mega donor is the same as a lynching?

And It’s OKAY If A Republican Does It.

Interesting that there seem to be no comments (yet) expressing kudos for this asinine cartoon.

Not the same as being lunched under a tree and paying with your life.
Difficult distinction for Eric to make.

If Ketanji Brown Jackson received these “gifts” from George Soros, the Right would lose their minds.

Clarence Thomas got more from Harlan Crow than Hunter Biden is accused of getting from China.

Come, now. Is it that difficult for Justice Thomas to follow the same disclosure rules the rest of the court has to?

I believe that ceramic, round, salt and pepper shakers in the images of Clarence and Ginni would sell well at GOP conventions and in the Klan states.
