Makes you wonder if Hurricane Hattie is the same person immortalized in Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs “Wooly Bully” : ♪ "Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw … " ♪
“He was a contraire. Except for battle he did everything backwards. He washed in the dirt and dried off in the water. Said hello when he meant goodbye.” Jack Crabb… “Little Big Man”.
“Well Harriet”, replies Gladys “it’s that you have an inquiring mind, the makings of a good scientist or reporter, or even some day creating amusing comics and as a woman you can make a difference in this male dominated world. So keep it up.”…
I suspect I was a little like Hattie as a child. I did not fit in with the beliefs of my family and accept everything I was told to believe. Maybe Hattie also has a mind of her own and is curious and wants to learn more about everything but isn’t allowed. Or maybe she is just contrary. She’s still young.

Not hard to imagine an oft heard exhortation from HH’s parents is, “Why don’t you go visit the Thornapples dear?”
