Clams (and other sessile ocean life) can be much more precise and sensitive than most manmade water-monitoring technology. The only problem is that you need a species that can survive in the water in the first place, and a way to detect their warning signs.
I’m a member of Hoosier Riverwatch, a volunteer organization which monitors water quality of rivers and streams. One sign of a healthy stream is the presence of aquatic life, especially clams.
“Yes, that’s it, these are just books, not a clever way to deliver naughty stuff.” ~ Enrique Cartelord, just kidding
Take care, may Polish anti-gruba shamer Bertha “Yes Each Side Of My Butt Does Have It’s Own Postal Code But Still I Do Keep The Planets Orbiting Properly” O’Bloppord be with you, and gesundheit.
Within one hour, one clam can filter and thus analyze the quality of 1.5 liters of water. They live only in completely clean waters and shut their shells immediately if they sense any impurity. After completing their acclimatization process, clams are placed in a specially designed flow tank. Now you know.

I wish they’d quit using that black background. It makes it very hard to read. My eyes aren’t as young as my mind.

How can it look like something that doesn’t exist? It would be the opposite, mystical dragons look like real snakes and lizards.
