Doesn’t she ever buy anything on sale? I wonder how she would react to $3.75 per gallon (avg.) gas. $200k for a puny"starter" home? Around here, it would pay for a large one (2000 sq. ft.). $85 sneakers are the only “cheap” thing she wears. lol

I can’t roll my eyes at this. If I did, they’d get stuck and I’d lose all that progress. [Looking around my office for something to throw at the sales lady]. I’d get LMB to bite her but he hasn’t had his rabies shot yet.

Morning Susan VERY early again. Hullo lightenup Late this a.m. and ready to sleep.

This strip made me think about the son of a friend of my mothers. When he was a teenager, they were always having a fit about his gas bills, which averaged $300 a month. However, they continued to pay them. That was when gas was (get ready to gasp!) 29 cents a gallon! Bet he wouldn’t get away with that today!

1.74/gal for gas. Yet years later everything else is still the same price EXCEPT the gas.

$3.75 per gallon? Thats less than $1 per litre….about 63p…I have to pay more than twice as much. But then, I’m sure the same would have applied 10 years ago.

Greetings all. This is the first time in days that I have had computer time to comment on more than a few strips per day. Barely time to read them. I just filled up my car and gas in this town is 120.9 per litre. But a town about 85 km away is 117.9 per litre. I wish someone could give me a rational explanation for the difference. It is all too expensive anyway. I live in a fairly small town so public transport really isn’t an option. I do a lot of walking when my husband has the car.Aaron I was just reading where you were getting some sight back in your eye. I think that is wonderful, and I’ll bet you’re relieved as well. It may sound kind of awkward but KEEP IT UP. I hope you understand what I mean.

$3.75 per gallon is really cheap! I paid 1.38 per litre when I filled up yesterday and there is about 3.75 litres in a US gallon. I do remember 29 cent gallons – and that was for Canadian gallons which are bigger than US ones. Yes, I am getting old!

Sales Lady’s tactics would never work on me. $30,000 for a car is obscene, especially for an economy model. My VW Jetta, ‘nicely equipped’ (marketing lingo), was $22,000. I would never pay more than $24,000 for a car. I’m WAAAY too young to remember $1.74 gas. I’ve never paid $5 for a salad and I don’t buy bottled water. $85 sneakers? No. I just bought 2 new pair of Nike’s from Footlocker online for $62 apiece, no sales tax and free shipping. Sales Lady would self-destruct to have me for a customer.

Hello fellow Cathyites. KFG we hope you’re coming to life again, even if it’s slowly. GsMom friend Aaron did see your post from last night — after 2 EMS runs and a fire call.

Yup—I’d love to be paying $1.74/gallon of gas again, but here in NC, we’re a LOT higher than that. Such is life, though.

    Hello, everyone.

Hi Cathyites!! I once filled up my tank (VW) for $1.70 — it was “gas wars” time and gas was 17 cents/gallon. Those were the days. Like you Billy, I don’t spend a lot of money on cars — tho I save up and buy them new (cash) and drive them into the ground. My current car (Mini) is nearly 8 years old and has 120,000 miles on it. I bought it because it was “cheap” (@ $20,000). And I often find things I like to wear at Target for a tenth of the price in other stores.
