Cathy: Is it compounding daily?...Yes. Am I adding to it monthly?...Yes. Am I guaranteed to have enough for a lifetime by age 65?...Yes! If only I could do with money what I've achieved with fat.
That is funny Cathy, I feel exactly the same way (and I’m a whole lot closer to 65!) No change in the fire threatening Kirkland lake today – and that is good news especially since the winds were gusting up to 50 kph (that is 30 mph for those of you south of the border). They are going to re-evaluate the existing evacuations tomorrow so those who live out closer to the path of the fire just may be able to return to their homes. Although there is no rain in the forecast for later today, the winds are going to be much lighter. They actually officially reduced the size of the fire even with the high winds. They still have 5 helicopters dumping water on the remaining hot spots and they are making a difference. The water bombers were pulled to a new large fire nearby – but not near enough to threaten any towns although one camp was evacuated and the highway between two towns is closed. The smoke from the big fire near Timmins is actually making visibilty difficult in Kirkland Lake and can be smelled in the air even here – and that fire is well over 100km (60m) away!.My MIL is enjoying her visit with us – and we enjoy having her too so all is well here.
Hi Willi Nilli! You started here the same way I did – read for a long time then came to the realization that a really friendly bunch hang out here so jumped into the conversation. Great to have you with us!
Ok – had to go back and correct too many typos in that last message. I guess it is time to turn the computer off and curl up with a good book for an hour or so before hitting the bed. Good night and good morning to my fellow Cathyites and Cathy Nuts – and everyone else too!
At the rate Cathy’s going, she’ll be lucky to have any income at all by time she’s 65. There’s no guarantee her little nest egg will be there. @hendelca, sorry to hear about the wildfires, which were caused by some idiot. I hope and pray that you make it through. I should be grateful that all I suffer through is an early heat wave. Welcome, Willi Nilli!
Uh oh, Cathy is much too self-satisfied with her fat vs. money. Maybe it’s because I’m a doctor but that’s not a happy place to settle, even when it makes you happy. Sigh.
Morning Susan and Willi Nilli. Morning lightenup when you arrive. Friend Aaron came home from work and crashed on the sofa. Must have been a rough night. LMB got up with me and we went for a walk. We’re going out in a bit to play basketball.
LOL!! A funny strip today! Good one, Cathy! :-)Good morning, everyone!! We are running late today because the Scouts (both Boy and Girl) put American flags on every gravesite (almost 19,000) at a local National Cemetary. We did this last year, and were happy to do it again this year, even if it meant getting up at 6:30am on a Saturday. Since we don’t know of anyone close to us in the armed services, this is one way that I can teach my kids to respect others who have given their lives for their country, and it’s not just a long weekend with sales.Thank you for the update, hendelca! I’m glad the situation is improving, although it would be better if it were over with. One step at a time, I guess. We’ll keep praying and hoping for the best.Hi Willi Nilli! Thanks for the personalized messages yesterday! We’re very happy to have you here! So, if you smell the smoke, does that mean you’re in Canada too? I’m in the Atlanta area, nowhere near Canada, but it’s so hot here right now, I wish I was.Hi Susan and gmforde! Hi Billy! I hope you had a fun basketball game, and Aaron has recovered from his long night!Hello Aaron, when you wake up! Rise and shine, porcupine (as I tell my kids)!Hi legaleagle! LOL at your omelet comment!! :-)Hello to GretchensMom, rgcviper, lindz.coop, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, soonergal, lippyfish, Mai Tai and everyone else rolling around here later! Have a great Saturday!
Hi everyone again! My comment from yesterday hasn’t shown up yet, so I hope this one does…Hey hendelca! I hope they’re able to put out the fire soon.I really like reading the comments, and will post more soon.Have a nice Saturday!
A bit moody today. Too tired to go upstairs when I got home this a.m. We have 4 levels – finsihed basement, first floor kitchen living room, 2nd floor bedrooms, 3rd floor office and play area. BIlly tucked me in and LMB gave me a nice kiss. Slept all day. And here I go again . . . hoping for a better evening.
Cathy pulled a real bait and switch on me here. Just when panels 1, 2 and 3 had me reeled in, thinking she was finally doing all the right things with her money for both now and her future retirement years . . . WHAM! I got sucker-punched by her “fat” comment in the 4th panel! Typical Cathy! She’ll never change!!!!! But then, that’s the thing we all know and love about her, isn’t it?!?!?
HI, AARON & DR, BILLY!
Aaron: Hope work goes better for you tonight than it did last night. Just be careful and take care of yourself!
Just so everyone knows . . . my mother has a cold so we won’t be going over to her house tomorrow because she doesn’t want us to catch what she’s got (and, quite frankly, we don’t want it either!) so you’ll most likely see me here at some point tomorrow.
Happy Saturday, lightenup, lightenupjr. (whenever you get here!), K.F.G. (wherever she is!), rgcviper, gmforde, hendelca, lindz.coop, legaleagle48, soonergal, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, Gator007, MaiTai, Willi Nilli, Violet and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here tonight. Hope everyone’s having a nice Memorial Day weekend and that you’re remembering to keep all our veterans — past and present — close in your thoughts. It’s because of them that we have all the freedoms we have today!
Fire situation here much improved with the calm winds and cooler temperatures. Some of the people from the outlying areas around Kirkland Lake are allowed to go home tonight – expect the other areas may be allowed back tomorrow night. My MIL, although we have enjoyed her visit, wants to go home and since her area was never evacuated, I will be taking her back tomorrow. Glad it is just about over so things can get back to normal. We thought things were bad around here until we saw the results of the tornadoes elsewhere this weekend. Makes forest fires look much less dangerous. At least you get lots of time to run away from them!
Hi Cathyites!!Glad to hear your life is getting back to normal hendelca — actually we have a cottage not terribly far from you — north of Perry Sound.
Hope you have a better day (and night) Aaron.
Glad you’re teaching the kiddies the real meaning behind Memorial Day lightenup — it does tend to get lost. And even tho I hate war with a passion, I do think we should honor the troops and I feel for all those who have lost loved ones or lived for years without them.
And you are so right Mom — we sure don’t want Cathy to change!!
