This is a raspberry almond tart/torte recipe that Billy’s mom has made. It was my ‘birthday cake’ last year. It’s so similar to my own that this is the best way to pass it on to you without doing a memory dump to paper:

Update on the fire situation: The big fire threatening Kirkland Lake is now officially ‘being held’. All evacuees (some 300 people) from the outlying areas are back home.For those of you who sent us your excess rain, thank you. It wasn’t much but every little bit helped!Everyone breathing easier now since even the other 5 fires in the immediate area are being held or even extinguished.The police are now looking for the party of campers who had a fire going during a fire restriction. Hope if they are found they have to pay the cost of fighting the fire – probably in the 10’s of millions (5 helicopters, 2 heavy duty water bombers, 20 ground crews, travel and accommodation for all of the above, cost of housing the evacuees, etc etc.) Yes, I do believe people should be responsible for their actions – especially for illegal actions!At least it did not get bad enough that we had to call on Aaron too!

Aaron, how about you? You said u would most likely see the tail end of it, but Doppler shows it hanging around. Hope it wasn’t too bad. We had really heavy rain and wind, and it blew in under my back porch door.

Did you all see the Farewell After 34 Years Clip?? I accidentally tapped on when I was scrolling up to go to next comic, first I’ve heard of it!! Can’t believe it. Didn’t say when it would stop. Or did I miss the announcement? Surely they will go to reruns!

Oh, for the love of all that’s holy, Irving, you need to cover yourself up!!!!! Hurry up and ask Cathy where she got her cover-up because you desperately need one too! Maybe if we’re ALL lucky, she’ll offer you hers until you can get one of your own. Yikes! Or maybe AACK! is more like it. Now that this unfortunate image is burned onto my brain, it’s probably going to take years — if ever! — to get it out of my poor head!!!!!

Aaron: Thank you ever so much for the delicious Raspberry Almond Tart recipe you provided. I love anything raspberry and it looks and sounds absolutely wonderful!!!!! I’m missing some special equipment to make it with . . . like a removable-side tart pan and food processor . . . but I’ve got it bookmarked on my laptop and one day, I WILL have all the supplies I need to make it with and when I do, I WILL make it!!!!! I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone who is being so kind and welcoming to lightenupjr!! Her face lights up (well, I guess it should being part of the lightenup family and all, but still… ;-)) when I tell her about all the nice people who are saying hi to her. She is still learning everyone’s names and her typing skills are hunt and peck, so she can’t type as fast as I can. But she’s working on it and loves reading everything. We might have to come up with something she can copy and paste, but please know that she’s very happy to be here. :-)She meant to post earlier, but her last day of chess was today and by the time we got home it was dinner and bed time.She sends a special hug to LMB because she just got her first job, which is walking a neighbor’s dog, and it starts tomorrow. She’s so incredibly excited and the dog is so cute! His name is Archie and looks like the little dog Snowy in Tin Tin. Anyway, it’s past my bedtime, but I want to say that it’s so much fun to come here and I love that you all are a lively bunch! Always a good time!! Hugs to all!
