They never dreamed there would be millions of voters worshiping ‘I am your retribution!’.

Wait until you see how the selfish unwoke republicans try to ruin our freedoms and misinterpret the 2nd Amendment so badly that gun shots are the leading cause of death for children.

The Foundi g Fathers knew exactly what was coming, they told us, we did not heed. America is still the greatest country in the history of the world, sorry but thats true. This comment will be removed shortly.

    - I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. - Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means.

    John Adams

    Still true today

It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more

    John Adams

Happy Independence Day, to the few here that does not delight in being miserable.

Early on they had to deal with Aaron Burr. Democracy, as long as we have it, may be a bit bumpy and herky jerky, but it is the best thing ever developed by man. It is self-correcting and flexible enough to be right on either side of an argument.

It is beyond doubt that today’s GOP is the party most opposed to our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

At least one of the framers of the Constitution expected it to be revisited in FIFTY YEARS. They would be astounded that their words are being contorted to cover situations in which it would have been better to amend them long ago.

We have this sadly, naive idea that the Founders were this cooperative team of like minded individuals. They were not. They fought and bickered and fussed at each other every bit as much as we do.

And yet they still managed to compromise and accomplish great deeds. There is hope, we can still do the same!

    Happy Independance Day!

Part of the problem is that we invented the filibuster (which is nowhere in the Constitution) and the “Hastert Rule” (which is nowhere in the Constitution), thus replacing a system of checks and balances – where change wouldn’t be too easy – with a system of obstruction, where change is impossible.

Unfortunately, many of the evils the Founders were trying to prevent have come to fruition despite their warnings.

Several of those men in that room would be shocked you were speaking about politics, Carmen.
