Have them get “upgraded” jobs with higher salaries.

It’s too bad that there’s no other way to get a nicer house.

Nicer house? It’s hard enough to get the first one. My son has a really good deposit, but the house prices are so high here that he can’t get a mortgage to pay for the rest. It’s ridiculous how difficult it is for first time buyers to get anything other than a hovel at a huge cost.

I’m glad to say I love my home here in northernmost Maine. I was a blue collar worker most of my life and I retired to an area I can afford. I have an amazing view of sunsets year round and my home overlooks a beautiful lake. Same house with a similar view most anywhere else would have been completely out of my price range. Okay…the Winters are just too long and a real challenge at times, but I’m thankfully I’m not worried about hurricanes, wild fires, floods, or tornadoes.

Home is where you hang your hat! Be thankful for what you have and not for what you don’t have.

Not sure if this is supposed to be comedic or a statement about the current generation.

It is fortunate that they were able to get that couch down the basement stairs.

I know a couple guys my age, in their 60s, that live in houses paid for by their parents. (Yes they’re both dirt heads.)Yet both my kids have excellent jobs and beautiful homes, as well as their friends. I hate to tell you my pessimistic fellow old coots, this younger generation is not doomed.
