Cheezy sees himself as quite the handsome dashing fellow. (Looking all flashy, like a used car salesman.)

We have “visitors” coming to our store today. Regional managers or whatever. So, we had to work yesterday getting the store all pretty for them. And part of my job was to toss out any dead or near dead looking plants. The plants that nobody was likely to buy. We had a bunch of potted tulips which were past blooming so I loaded up a shopping cart with those so I could toss them in the compactor. Well, I got all the way to the compactor and I had tossed a few of the plants when I saw something startling. One of the pots had a bird nest in it with newly hatched baby birds. I don’t know why I didn’t see it when I put it in my cart. Well, I hightailed it back to the garden center and put that pot back where I found it. Just after I did that, along came Mama robin with a bug to feed the babies. Or maybe it was papa. I don’t know how to tell them apart. Anyway, I got a couple pictures and I kept watching to make sure the parent bird kept returning to the nest. Last time we hatched robins back there, I saw both parents and they took turns going out and bringing back food for the babies (this was quite a few years ago). I would frequently see both parents together. Not so with this one. Anyway, I put a couple other plants in front of the pot with the baby birds to provide them with a little shade and a little privacy. I wish I could move the nest to a different spot where we don’t have plants so the customers wouldn’t disturb them. But I can’t risk making the robins abandon the nest the way the mourning dove did when she laid eggs in our garden center.

Nice try, Chesney, but we know how you really behave.

I know terrible people who believe they’re nice people. They haven’t a clue how much of a PITA they are.

Off topic but I have questions. In 2019 my eye doc suggested cataract surgery. I went to see the surgeon. He said no, it wasn’t time. Two years later in 2021, we went thru the same thing. Last week, he said it again and maybe it IS time. I know what friends have said about the change in vison making things clearer, brighter, etc. I just don’t seem to have a problem with either. I mean, I still can thread a needle and sew. I still read road signs, I still read my Kindle. I admit that I did increase the font from 6 to 7. Dr D said this guy will do both eyes just two days apart. I have to assume he does laser surgery; I don’t think cutting is even taught any more.

So, my questions are: have any of you had it done? Laser or cutting? How was recovery? Was there a lot of after care? Did your vision improve or did you just notice colors and sharpness?

I seem to be more worried about this than any body surgery I’ve had.

My appt is on the 11th.

I had cataract surgery in 2019. Both eyes, a week apart. It was very easy. The complicated part is there were three different eye drops to use. Fortunately they gave me a chart to follow. You’re doing pre-surgery drops in the second eye while you’re doing post-surgery drops in the first eye. Medicare doesn’t cover laser surgery so I had the cutting. I was terribly near-sighted before the surgery and the cataracts were making things fuzzy so my vision was vastly improved. But now I’m far-sighted and can’t read anything without glasses. I recommend getting the surgery because if you wait too long you can do permanent damage.

Really, Chesney? That’s not the way it went. I’d say “liar, liar, pants on fire”, except Chesney doesn’t wear pants. On another note, saw two butterflies, six damselflies, four juncos, five robins, and a sparrow while out walking today.
