I have some veggies growing in the boxes we had built for that purpose. I sometimes tell my wife that I am going out to the “lower 40” to water my crops.
I also tell her as I push the cart out of the supermarket while she is paying the bill, ‘OK maw, I’m going to hitch up the horses and load up the wagon." Yes, it does take two people to shop or pick up a pizza or run any number of errands in our house. Married for 52 years and I still can’t “hang out” with her enough.
Trivia of the day: during World War I such home plots were called “Liberty Gardens.” In World War II they were called “Victory Gardens.”
We have a number of people who raise vegetables and give their surplus to our church’s food pantry. I’m still trying to come up with a good name for these gardens.
