not to ruin the joke but I saw an analysis from January 2023 that said that the average monthly cost for utility bills in Texas is around $396/month for electricity, gas, water & cable. that’s in line with what we pay here in Canada.

You are just imagining that your are paying for all that air conditioning. The climate is not getting warmer because global warming is a liberal plot and fake news. MAGA. /s

Yes, but it’s a dry heat. You don’t sweat. You can die from it, but you’re not all icky.

Relax, they’ll let you pay in four easy installments. But then there’s next month.

fwiw – the heat in Houston is never dry, and it’s humid all year round.

I live in a retirement community in Phoenix AZ and about a third of the homes have solar, I don’t but I am enrolled in a program where my monthly is the same all year. My friend’s mom is enrolled in the same program and she pays $146 every month, before the program it was more than $400 in the summer.

According to a certain political party, we cannot afford to have American Industry comply with liberal environmental regulations. It cuts into corporate profits and makes us less competitive in the world. Big industry should not have to pay this price. It’s bad for America.

On the other hand we have draughts along with fires that destroy homes and crop failures; floods, tornados and hurricanes which also do damage; and record heat which means higher electric bills. Big industry doesn’t pay for these. You do.

You either pay directly by damage done to your farm, business or property or indirectly through increased insurance premiums or less directly at the supermarket because we have to import food due to crop failures, or who do you think picks up the tab when FMEA comes in?

Pay me now, or pay me later. The only difference is who does the paying.

Way to keep politics out of comics. Thanks for ruining the only safe thing to read anymore.
