Brom Bones in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” is described as wearing a “cap made from the fur of a fox which he had caught himself”. This can be seen as symbolic of how Brom eventually outfoxes Ichabod Crane after suffering several humiliating defeats from him.
I still have four fur coats from the seventies and eighties, when they were fashionable. You cannot sell them, or even give them away now. One was $8000 when new and now is worth nothing. I donated a Spanish Lamb decades ago and saw it on a giant black trans guy in Toronto lol!
Given the coonskin cap craze back when Davey Crocket was on TV back in the day, the raccoon population would have been decimated if all those caps had been real…
I’ve often wondered what Rover would do with a squirrel if he ever did catch one! Newton doesn’t chase anything and he would love to be friends with the bunny who lives in the shrubbery in the back of our yard, but bunny is too timid to engage with Newt.
Davy Crockett never wore that type of hat (and i had one too, growing up), and according to segment on History Channel, he was last man standing, but gave Santa Ana a Masonic hand sign and was allowed to walk away and both are known to have been Masons, and the battle was fought in the first place because Mexico had freed the slaves…history is fascinating when you know the stories

I was just wondering the other day if there had ever been a comic with Red partaking in the Davy Crockett craze.

Rover is definitely not a raccoon dog. Would he object to Red wearing a cap made from squirrel fur?

Rover does not seem to object to having meat like substances in his kibble.

People had no choice back in the day. Either wear animal furs or freeze.

They didn’t wear them for style. They wore them for warmth and camouflage.

The Alamo was a terrible battle, Fess Parker, John Wayne, and Billy Bob Thornton were all killed.

It is now buried in a shallow grave in the backyard.

This dates the comic as the Davy Crockett craze started in 1955 and by 1957 was considered very uncool.

It’s a raccoon fur hat, not a dog. And a fake one at that.
