The best evidence that affirmative action and racial quotas destroy character comes from the white guys who benefited from generations of it and are still resentful that their preference was taken away. —Elizabeth Moon
Now it will be back to wealthy people getting spots in colleges/universities they didn’t earn, but their families could buy or legacy them into. Which, never ended anyway.
I hope colleges and universities, continue affirmative action, even if the Repubs don’t want them to. All of the people that affirmative action helped, got into those colleges on their own merits. All affirmative action did, was help get them seen and not overlooked in the sea of green.
If action speaks louder than words, why do people say it is the thought that counts?
When we reflect on the success of one race over the other let us not forget the Black Wall Street that was so successful it drew the attention of the rich whites who prompted their minions to put an end to it and dissuade them from ever attempting it again, do you remember the murderous results of that?
‘I can already see the ads being written’: Analyst says GOP will face blowback over SCOTUS rulings
A CNN political analyst said Friday that the Supreme Court’s recent rulings are likely to fuel blowback for Republicans. Democratic strategist Maria Cardona said the student loan forgiveness decision in particular is likely to motivate young Democratic voters in the 2024 election cycle.
Roberts concluded that after 25 years the problem is solved, as predicted by an earlier Justice. He was wrong. This all smacks of good ol’ American zero-sum thinking – that giving minority people any advantage at all takes something away from whites.
The Supremacist Court has now based your skin color on your content and character as represented by those who believe your content and character is based on your skin color.
I love that Lizzie “1/1024th Indian” Warren weighed in on this; the woman has some balls.
She literally filled out forms by her own hand where she cited ‘American Indian’ as her race at U Penn, Harvard, the Assoc of American Law Schools, and on her 1986 Texas bar registration card, all without any evidence to support this. They falsely advertised her as a minority in faculty directories. She was touted as Harvard’s first woman of color hire in the law school. She got opportunities for lying about her race and benefitted from it. Sit down, Liarwatha!
Does anyone think Harvard and the rest will actually obey the law on this? They have been prepared for this decision. Anti-American institutions like Harvard will simply do what they have been doing, just in a more obfuscated manner. Don’t believe me? Track their admissions for the next several years and you’ll see it will look surprisingly (NOT!) like their admissions while practicing their brand of affirmative action, within a normal variation of a couple od percentage points.
It’s always interesting that this is the ONLY MLK, jr. quote that the right seems to know. Although a great quote, his life’s work (and many other quotes) was (were) about making the playing field even between groups so that quote could be a possibility. I’m old enough to remember the right having a hissy fit about making his birthday a national holiday BECAUSE of his other work. The more things change…
Back in the day — WAY back, when I was young — I didn’t go to Harvard because it was a rich kids’ school and I wasn’t a rich kid. Many years later I taught there for a while, and I was pleased to see that the tone had changed, somewhat. Yes, there were still rich kids there, and certainly legacies, but the administration had made big efforts to accept and support a wide variety of undergraduates. I still think the undergraduate program there is over-rated; there are a lot of other colleges just as good.
Some old geezer and others keep fantasizing that they are worth responding too. When in fact, when they are responded to, it is just correcting their misinformation for the benifit of other readers.

Payne continues to take the phrase out of context to get it wrong.

After more than 60 years of their affirmative action solution, the left wants you to believe things have only gotten worse.
And that alone justifies ending the failed affirmative action solution.

So we are to believe that MLK sounds more like Uncle Thomas than Thurgood Marshall?

So much white anguish. You poor souls. Must be miserable to be white in todays society.
