I had a commanding officer who was the worldâs most notorious punster. We were driving together to visit a remote site. He was driving (my first mistake). As we were bouncing up a mountain road, he said, âIâm trying to spare you as many potholes as I can.â
I responded, âItâs OK, sir. Iâm sure the ones you miss on the way up, youâll get on the way back down.â
He was also spinning off puns at a rapid rate to which I was NOT reacting. I finally told him, âKeep pitching, Iâll swing at one of them eventually.â
Apparently it was not a bad career move, I wound up getting promoted anyway. He was one of the best mentors I had and we respected each other immensely.

Not true. I saw a study that said that fake laughter is almost as beneficial as real laughter. And it can lead to real laughter.

It depends on how many âhaâs you use, just one âhaâ is just being sarcastic.
