In our family, I was the one who insisted we had to downsize. My husband was determined he wanted to spend the rest of his life in our 11-room 1830s farmhouse, which always needed repairs (weâd been there 45 years). I quietly cleaned out every closet, drawer, and cupboard, both attics, and got started on the garage and 2-story barn; he finally figured out what I was up to and got mad.
Moving to a new single-story home where I donât have to tromp down cellar to heave logs into the wood furnace was rather motivating, and I did prevail. The process felt like dragging a two-ton cannonball behind me every step of the way. But within a few months of settling in, he had a major medical event, arrived at the hospital in 3 minutes instead of 30, and decide Iâd been wise after all. ;)
DO IT!!! At 62, 13 years ago, I moved to the beach and never looked back. You, too, may discover that you should have lived at the beach your entire life.

âHere we are and here we stay.â I had a retirement home in the country, vastly over-rated.

Weâve had the same conversation. My position is that I wouldnât mind living somewhere else but I donât want to move.

Boy, is Janis EVER cranky lately. Nothing pleases her anymore. She is always negative about everything, yet she does have a point with this issue.

As a single person, I am not versed in âmarried talkâ as most of the commenters seem to be. So would someone please tell me what she DID mean?

Now I know why Arlo doesnât have any male friends. They ,the imaginary friends, would tell him to dump Janis, life is to short.
