At 74, I decided I don’t want to be apart of the obese Americans group, especially since I want to live longer so I can watch my grandkids grow. To avoid the weight gain and all the health challenges, I decided to begin this phase by not eating more than 3000 calories in a 24 hour period. Second, I began select certain specific foods that delivered those calories. Hey, I’m retired so I’ve got the time, why not use it to improve myself, right? Then I began to pick how I was going to burn those 3000. Since I a TV fan, I decided to only watch while sitting on a yoga ball! I walk 2 miles a day, band I tighten my core while I walk. Etc.etc.etc. I still hover around 180, but an unexpected outcome is my improved positivity.

After a month of walking 3.5 miles per day, I sorta expected Mr. Spaetzle to have lost some weight.

3.5 miles a day and no reduction in calories? Almost impossible. One pound = 3,500 calories. 3.5 mile walk = 350 calories.

I’m with Dr. Spaetzle. Sometimes I get complaints from ‘venues’ rarely heard in normal activities. They don’t stop me but they get my attention.

I have a new exercise program. I have a pickup truck, my new gf just bought four more rental properties, up to 20 in total.

Kind of surprising he hasn’t lost any days to foul weather.

That’s the difference between being “in the mood” and “in the mode”.

By my calculations, 105.5 divided by 3.5 miles per day means this conversation is occurring ⅐ of the way into Day 31’s hike.
