“And then, one Thursday, nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change, a girl sitting on her own in a small café in Rickmansworth suddenly realized what it was that had been going wrong all this time, and she finally knew how the world could be made a good and happy place. This time it was right, it would work, and no one would have to get nailed to anything”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (before the Vogans took out the Earth)
“It ought to be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things. Because the innovator has for enemies all those who have done well under the old conditions, and lukewarm defenders in those who may do well under the new. This coolness arises partly from fear of the opponents, who have the laws on their side, and partly from the incredulity of men, who do not readily believe in new things until they have had a long experience of them.”― Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince
I offer to save the world, solve all of the problems and no one takes me up on it. Remove 90% of the people. Over population is the cause of ALL the world problems. Want the species to survive for some reason ? That is the only solution. Sadly the rest would not learn a thing from this and breed themselves out of existence.
Walt Kelly’s quote is also an homage to another: Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, who sent the message, “We have met the enemy and they are ours.” Reminds me of Snoopy’s quote, originally, “It was a dark and stormy night”, became “He was a dark and stormy knight.”

Well, since I am very pressable and moveable, I’m not sure either of those applies to me.

As I always keep in mind when driving, half of all people on earth are of below average intelligence.

I never even read Pogo, and I had no idea that Walt Kelly actually said that.

It’s not half is the enemy — 46.8% is more accurate

Walt said ‘and he is us’, NOT ‘and he is HALF of us’. The woke religion on parade, dismissing all others as obviously the ‘wrong’ ones?
The movie was much funnier than the strip.
