On a recent call for service on our house, the rep mistakenly interrupted my description with the phrase, âSo, to cut a long story short, what youâre saying is . . .â! Turns out the company I had long trusted for house issues had been bought in by an international company and âreconfigured.â Without notice to the customer base, they cut out local contact and added a âcall centerâ with phony local address. Told the guy not to bother and not to call back and hung up.
I get the feeling weâre gonna get a lot more of his attitude.
In my early years, I was a menâs fashion salesman and ad rep for a mid-major newspaper. The first thing one learns is to never, ever cut off the customer in a way that suggests that you are in any way disinterested in his/her comments. Enjoy listening or fake it, you just donât do that.
