Plus the food is great and greasy… butter is in a bowl on the counter for everyone… the coffee is great by itself… just a laid back place. it would even be better if the health department would just stay away!
Pluggers eat at the local diner because they know (and like) the food, the staff, and everybody in there. Local diners are far better than Facebook or any other social media. Good for networking, business deals, news and weather. Second only to a front porch on a balmy summer evening :D
I don’t see any point to wearing a hat at ALL except as outdoor protection from the sun! (Even in cold climates, if it’s cold enough for a hat….it’s cold enough for a coat with a hood, because a hat isn’t going to protect your neck). As for men wearing hats indoors….as far as I’m concerned, that’s only for super-old black and white movies set in an apparently alternate universe to which I would never, EVER be able to relate!
Hats have a long history. Most men wore hats outdoors for style and/or protection from the elements but ALWAYS removed them indoors. But that changed when JFK was elected President. He didn’t wear one and the male population followed suit. But then, baseball caps became wildly popular but not for their designated purpose of protecting the eyes from sunlight. It somehow became cool to wear them ALL the time and even indoors where they serve absolutely no purpose which for many of us old schoolers, is highly annoying.
And don’t get me started on baseball caps worn backwards.
Talk to a real cowboy in western South Dakota about his hat… it is part of his head. it never comes off (the hat, I mean) … in second place comes a Texan and his hat.

Just because he doesn’t have to doesn’t mean he shouldn’t take his hat off anyway.

Never did understand the hat thing. Usually a chef/cook wears a hat of some form when cooking ;-)

Being bald, I often leave my hat on indoors for warmth, especially in winter here in MN.

When a Plugger is finally seen without his ball cap, you realize he has been bald all this time!

I don’t know why you would need your hat on inside a building, let alone a restaurant. Hell, I’ve seen caps on at church.

Pluggers shower at night because we get filthy at our jobs. Hence, bed head.
