    Funny! And nice artwork!

But only possible with cartoon physics! (And don’t even bother talking about the price!)

That’s OK, the Repubs will approve it due to the umbrella manufacturer lobby.

Oh yes. The climate is changing (as it has for millions of years) and it’s all because of man-made activity. PLEASE, what BS!

Geo-engineering plans to “save the world” scare the heck out of me. Climate is a very chaotic phenomenon and WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND IT.

If “we” ever try and mess with the weather, we will just make it worse. One and only solution to climate change and the only possible chance to save the species it removal of the majority of the world population. The one and only root cause of climate change. You don’t have to like the answer, but you can’t ignore it or argue against it.

That’s it! That’s why it has been rather cool where I live lately. Summer wasn’t as hot as I expected either. I’ll wait for winter to complain about the weather.

Hmmm… Solar sails can be pretty big. What happens if you deploy one which is painted back on the sun side. Would the reflected light from the Earth keep it up? Even if it hadn’t greatly reduced that light, I’d guess not, but someone should do the math.

Not quite an umbrella, but a paper from the University of Tokyo did propose a way to reduce sunlight by 10 percent: https://journals.ametsoc.Org/view/journals/atot/38/9/JTECH-D
